Propellor Shafts

General Marine Services manufacture marine shafting from a variety of materials. Most commonly used materials are 316 stainless steel and Duplex SAF 2205. More exotic materials, such as Aquamet, can also be supplied.

All shafts are turned on a Harrison Alpha 550 lathe. A standard taper (1:16) or custom taper  can be machined as required. All components are lapped and blued to ensure a minimum of 75% contact between the shaft and coupling.

Any type of coupling can be manufactured from bronze, stainless steel or steel.

To complete the propulsion package we offer a full range of propellers manufactured to the highest level by ZF Marine. General Marine Services is New Zealand’s authorised distributor for the ZF propeller range.
