Surface Preparation:

Bead blasting

General Marine Services has a  high performance bead blaster that can be run with a variety of media to suit the client's requirements. It is the only bead-blaster with commercial capabilities in Auckland's Central Business District and the Westhaven marine precinct. It allows items up to 0.5m x 0.5m x 1.0m and 180kg to be placed on the turntable.

The most regularly used media is aluminium oxide; it enables our fabrication and service departments to achieve the broadest range of finishes, including welding preparation, paint preparation and descaling.

Acid Bath

General Marine Services has a purpose-built acid dipping bath. It utilises the latest in non-corrosive, non-destructive acid cleaning. It can remove rust, two-pot paint systems and powder-coating, plus many other coatings that are found on marine equipment and systems in need of servicing.
